MY EVERY THOUGHT

I would like to thank you for sharing your thoughts and all your contributions to help others who come on this site.
It is wonderful to know God is available for us at all times. He would not turn His back on you, rather He answers the cry of your heart. May this prayer from Psalm 139 bless you today, I am particularly thankful for verse 17.
"I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me" literally, “How precious are your thoughts to me."

Psalm 139: 1 - 23

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.

2  You know when I sit or stand. When far away you know my every thought.

3  You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment you know where I am.

4   You know what I am going to say before I even say it.

5  You both precede and follow me and place your hand of blessing on my head.

6  This is too glorious, too wonderful to believe!

7  I can never be lost to your Spirit! I can never get away from my God!

8  If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the place of the dead, you are there.

9  If I ride the morning winds to the farthest oceans,

10 even there your hand will guide me, your strength will support me.

11 If I try to hide in the darkness, the night becomes light around me.

12 For even darkness cannot hide from God; to you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are both alike to you.

13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb.

14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it.

15 You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion!

16 You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!

17-18 How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me.  And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me!

19 Surely you will slay the wicked, Lord! Away, bloodthirsty men! Begone!

20 They blaspheme your name and stand in arrogance against you—how silly can they be?

21 O Lord, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you? Shouldn’t I be grieved with them?

22 Yes, I hate them, for your enemies are my enemies too.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. 24 Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Living Bible (TLB)

Take courage knowing you are God's priority and start living a happy life.

Have a lovely day!

My honest opinion is, no one is really a victim here, once is a mistake, two, three, more, a life style. Yes your cousin was used, abused and misused, i empathize with her but my question here is, after she attained the age of understanding, was it now okay for her to continue indulging and then ensuring she exerted her revenge on your aunt? What happened to forgiveness? Your aunt on the other hand, hmmmm, beats me. 'What you tolerate, you sponsor". It's sad when people define obsession as love. She was a very insecure woman, who actively participated in her hubbys' atrocities and felt it was okay to let her husband (who wasn't worth her time talk more her life) treat your cousin that way in order to preserve a dead and non-existent marriage. Her husband, a very randy, shameless hill-billy, simply took advantage of and manipulated each one of them. He should have been reported to the appropriate authorities the first time and i'm stunned he's walking free with an accepted apology from the village council. Women, please let's all learn and understand we have the power and are in charge of our lives. Never be blinded by love and hurt yourselves in the process or compromise your values or standards in the name of love. It's usually never worth it. The above "aunt" cut her life short for nothing. Anyone that causes you pain or will make you bitter instead of better, let go before further commitment fast, remember, the signs are always there from the onset. Be wise.

Wow! ...First time i am seeing this scripture this way. Thanks, its a great chapter to meditate on. I have been following you for a while now and i must say i have learnt so much. I want to share a story with you and everyone else who is reading. I title this story "WHO IS THE VICTIM?" Please, this is NOT fiction. It really happened in my family. My aunty married a man who promised her love and affection all the days of her life and she believed every word he said, even when he openly lied, she still chose to believe him against all evidence. He was a very immoral man - the last time i checked - and i will tell you why. My younger cousin was sent to live with my aunty and this man. My cousin was 9 years old. She was a virgin, and NAIVE with capital letters. By the age of 10, this man put her in the family way. My aunty got to know about it and guess what she did?...she ABORTED the baby, she flushed it DOWN THE TOILET! Now this wasn't a mistake it happened again several times after, according to my cousin, at least 5 times or more. All of this was neatly swept under the rug for many years. In the course of time another young girl was brought into the house to help because my aunty gained admission to study in the university and she needed two house helps to look after her two children. You can only imagine what happened in her absence. The house became a little Sodom and Gomorrah. The girls slept in turn with him (This I saw with my own eyes). I got so sick of their ways that i stopped visiting for holidays. After my aunty graduated, the second girl left the house. She had found a job and a man to marry her but my cousin stayed put. She had finished secondary school and was hoping to further her studies when news came that she had to live the house because the man had been transferred to Ibadan. She came back to the village where i was at that time and cried woe. That was actually when i got to know this sordid story. I pleaded with her to let by-gone be by-gone, but she refused. What was hurting her? from the time she was a child, she had been abused by the man she called daddy! Her womb had been flushed several times by the woman she called mummy! and what does she get for it? a boot in the head! tossed out like rubbish. Well to cut a long story shot, she moved to Ibadan where the man was staying alone, of course the man put her in the family way again and on realizing that, she ran away. She nursed the baby and was delivered of the baby. A baby boy. Then she told everyone who the father was. It was so obvious, the baby was a splitting image of the man. Well my aunty was livid. she coursed the girl and coursed the man. The year after, the man retired from active service and relocated to the village. Then he made an open apology to my family and my cousins mother. He promised to marry her as second wife to remove the shame of the past years and provide for her. My aunty didn't like any of this. She (My aunty) refused to relocate with her husband and stayed back in Lagos. Her husband in turn neglected her, though he sent the house rent, but he hardly ever showed up. He started a new life with his new wife -my cousin- and they had two more children. He even put my cousin in school where she got her first degree and became a teacher. Now, my aunty grew more and more bitter and frustrated that she became mentally ill. She would wonder away from her flat in Lagos and walk the street for day and then return looking every inch a mad woman. When i was told about it. I went and took her to stay with me. But she wouldn't stay. She preferred to stay alone in her three bedroom flat. ALL ALONE! Days became months and her condition worsened so i sent for her two children to come to Lagos. When they saw her, they thought the best thing would be to take her back home to the village. A month after she got back to the village, she was found dead in her room. Today i just wonder to myself, who really was the victim here?

Dear Chinedu these things are happened to the families that are not welcome Jesus as the head of their HOME!!!!! If Jesus was first priority in their lives none of the above would happen.

This psalm humbles me each time I read it and reminds me of God's awesomeness and his extraordinary love. How can I not have an excellent life when "You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe."? Thank you Lord for your love for me! Thank you pastor for this post.

Thank you Pastor for that inspiring message. Sometimes we forget how God sees us. God regards each and everyone of us as very special to him. He loves us so much that he watches over us so closely. He is interested in every detail of our lives. He wants us joyful and healthy both spiritually and emotionally. God wants us prosperous. He will never abandon us because we belong to him. Glory!!

Thank you Pastor Anita for sharing this scripture. This psalm has become such a great prayer and comfort for me since reading this blog. I've meditated on a number of verses from it and my heart has become so full and conscious of God's love. Today I'm meditating on verse "5 You both precede and follow me and place your hand of blessing on my head." Just looking back at my life and thinking about God's favour, blessings and protection I have experienced. Feeling so thankful... Sing this hymn by Johnson Oatman Jr. with me today if you are reading this. Count your blessings When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. Refrain Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly, And you will keep singing as the days go by. Refrain When you look at others with their lands and gold, Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold; Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high. Refrain So, amid the conflict whether great or small, Do not be disheartened, God is over all; Count your many blessings, angels will attend, Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end. Refrain
